Welcome to Marco's website!

Marco is a guitarist, composer and arranger originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He now resides in the Seattle, Washington area.

Marco has played guitar for over thirty years. Marco plays an immense repertoire including bossa nova, samba, MPB, choro, classical and traditional jazz music as well as his own compositions. He holds a bachelor's degree in guitar performance from the Brazilian Music Conservatory, where he was taught by Juarez Carvalho, whom Marco considers his greatest mentor on the guitar. Under the tutelage of Juarez, Marco completed (and now teaches) the four volume “Escuela Razonada de la Guitarra” written by Emilio Pujol based on the principles of Francisco Tarrega a method considered to be the finest in the history of guitar.

Marco has studied and played with many great Brazilian musicians including Luiz Eca, Afonso Vieira, Lucas Robatto, Helio Delmiro, Ronaldo Miranda and samba singer Alcione. He also plays with some wonderful Seattle-based musicians including Jeff Johnson, Reade Whitwell, Geoff Harper, Tad Britton, Byron Vannoy, Buddy Catlett, Lori Goldston and many others!

Marco teaches both private lessons and at the Seattle Drum School of Music. Marco has also been an instructor at the California Coast Music Camp, California Brazil Summer Camp, North Seattle Community College and a guest instructor at Cornish College of the Arts.
